Kiwican | Rolemodel
This week for kiwi can we learnt about how to be a good role model and what a good role model looks like. We talked about who our role models were. We then played an energizer called 'Hammer'. We got into pairs and then put our fists up like its towering. When Mrs Grace said 'up' the fist at the bottom has to go to the top. When she says 'down' the fist at the top goes to the bottom. After that we play a game called picture it. We split into 4 groups. Mrs Grace told us to picture a car, airplane, basketball hoop, triangle. Our team won 2 rounds but everyone enjoyed themselves.
European & Polynesian Navigation
LI: to compare and contrast
For Inquiry we compared and contrasted the differences and similarities of European and Polynesian Navigation. We used a Venn Diagram to write down both the differences and similarities. We explained the different methods that early explorers used to find land and navigate. We used the information we got from out notes we've written. When finished we wrote down the vocabulary and explained the meaning.

Cyber Smart Ctrl+f - Gourds
LI: Explore Ctrl+F
For Cybersmart we made a DLO (Digital Learning Object) on Gourds. When researching we used Control F which was made to write a word in, and when you wrote the word, the word you typed in would show up. When smart searching we had to search with a key word or key phrase. When finding the information we had to use Control F and then skim and scan the information. Skimming and Scanning is reading fast, to look for the information you need.

Exploring Provocations.
LI: To consider both sides of a Provocation.
This week we have been exploring both sides of a provocation. A provocation is an action that triggers strong feelings about a topic. Our provocation was 'Should NZ become a cashless society?' After considering both perspectives, we think we shouldn't grow to be a cashless society due to the fact that some people don't know how to use the technology of this era. Cash is more dependable because nowadays hackers can hack your bank account and take your money without problems. Another explanation is that we cant donate to the homeless with a card. Some people cant pay their loans/rent with a credit card so we figure it ought to be adjusted among card and money.

KiwiCan Reflection (Drawing)
This week for kiwi can we talked about how to be a leader and how to be confident. First we started with our energizer called bop it. Bop it is a game where you have to try and copy the moves and not do the wrong one or be the last one to do the move. Next we were talking about being confident and how we can be confident. To be confident you need to take risks, try your best and overcome your fears. After we played our activity called bowchickawowow. It is a game where you have to copy the next persons moves. When you do the first persons move, you have to copy it and add a move. Then we moved on to talking about how to be a good leader. Being a good leader to us is being responsible and being a role model.

Introduction
Azatulah
Hello my name is Azatulah and I am 11 years old. My favorite subject is Writing and Art. I'm learning to code on Microsoft Visual Studio 2019. Coding is complex but I’m learning how to do it. I also really like sports. I play soccer and volleyball. I play for Ellerslie AFC team. I take soccer seriously, but I just play volleyball for fun. My goal by the end of the year is to be at least an amateur at coding.

Maths Strategy Working Out
Our group answered this question with what we think is the most efficient strategy. The isn't a certain strategy that is the best for everyone. The most efficient is the one your more comfortable with.
Kiwi Sport (Cricket)
We learned how to play cricket. Brian from HPPC taught us how to bowl, how to bat, and how to field. He split us into 2 teams. One team had to practice bowling and the other had to bat and field. Brian put our team in 3 groups. On the bowling team you had to try and aim for the cones in front of the wickets. Whenever someone hits a cone they have to take the cone and put it on the wickets. First team to get all the cones wins. The second game was to hit the wickets. But when you hit the wicket you have to take a piece off. First team to hit all the wickets wins. On the bowling side there were also 3 groups. 1 person from each group had to bat 2 balls that were on the ground. When the batters hit the balls the fielders have to run and get the 2 balls and put it back where it was at the start. When the batter hits both balls they run to the cone behind them and go back as much as they can. After that we played a mini game where everyone has to be in a circle around Brian. He throws two balls to random people and whoever fails to catch it loses.
Kiwi Can (Positive Communication)
LI: Positive Communication
Today for kiwi can we learn about Positive Communication. We played an energizer called up and down. There were 2 teams, Mrs Grace's team and Mr SeManu’s team. There were cones up or down. One team was up and the other was down. When Mrs Grace said go 2 people from each team had to flip the other teams cones their way (up or down). When Mr SeManu said stop the 2 people from each team had to stop flipping. The team with the most cones flipped their way wins. Mr SeManu told Karlos he was trash at basketball so we had to think of things to say to cheer Karlos up. That was it for kiwi can today.

Kiwi Can (Giving It A Go)
LI: Giving It A Go
This week's topic in kiwi can was ‘Giving It A Go’. It's about giving it a go, trying new things, and having a goal that you want to succeed. We played 3 different games. The first one was called ‘1v1’. We had to find a partner and then go back to back. Then when Miss Grace and Mr SeManu said go we had to turn around and do what he said before. The things they told us to do are, dramatic cry, dramatic faint, make a new dance move, catwalk, aliens, something scary, and the scariest Pukana you can possibly do. We then played ‘End Of The Road’. There were 2 lines, a boy line and a girl line. The first person in each line had to stand up and answer Miss Grace or Mr SeManu’s question. The first person to answer it correctly stays up and the other person sits down. Then the next person in the team stands up. The boys ended up winning, But everyone had fun!

Kiwi Can (Positive Relationships)
LI: To include and engage others by being sensitive to their feelings
For Kiwi Can this term our Theme is Positive Relationships and our theme for the next couple of weeks are fairness and fair play. We first started off by playing our Energizer which was changing places. We then talked about how fairness and fair play could go in a game situation. For example you can be fair to people in a game by having an equal amount of players in each team. We also talked about what courtesy was. Courtesy is being polite and having manners toward other people. We also talked about Common sense which is making wise choices. Lastly we talked about Consideration which is being thoughtful of others. Then all those words come up to Empathy. Empathy is being all those things we talked about together. We then did a role play on Empathy. Our role play was about a person who got hurt by the other team, while his teams help him up and the person who hurt him helps him up.
Tech (Movement)
Today for tech the year 7s learned how to make the m bots move! It was fun because it was a challenge. We had to time the seconds or the power the m bot moved to make it go in a square. There were 2 movement codes with 2 variables each, the power and the second. First we had to make it go forward at any power and any second. Then we had to make it turn left at a certain power to make it turn at a 90 degree angle. Then we had to put a repeat code around the 2 movement codes so it repeated it. We had to put 4 on the variable since there are 4 corners on a square. If we wanted to do a triangle we would have done 3 since a triangle has 3 corners.
Tech (Sounds & Lights)
This week for tech we learned how to make the m bots make different sounds and lights. Miss Ferguson gave us a challenge! We had to make the song, “Happy Birthday” with the beats that we were provided. It was complicated but i managed to do half of the song but still need to finish the rest. We added the codes from the slide bar then uploaded it to check it. Mrs Ferguson recorded us learning how to use the lights. After that we finished, packed up, and went back to school.
Tech (Algorithms)
Today at tech the year 7s did robotics. We learned about algorithms. Mrs Ferguson was our teacher for robotics. We played a mini game outside where you had to listen to the person that gave you an instruction. We learned that algorithms are a set of instructions and that we need to be specific when we give any instructions. We learned how to use M-Bots. There was a website with the control for the M-Bots. We had to connect the M-Bots to the chrome book with USB cables. We then had to add the codes for the m bots together to make it move or do anything. Then we had to press ‘upload’ to make it do what your code says. Upload is another word for robots that mean ‘Go’.
Building Connections: Kupe
This time we completed a slide about Kupe and his voyages to Aotearoa/NZ. He is a Polynesian navigator that is the real founder of Aotearoa/NZ.
Building Connections: Captain Cook
In inquiry we completed a google slide with our groups. We answered the questions about Captain Cook and his voyage to Aotearoa. We wrote down the facts we already knew.
History & Peace Drawing
For inquiry we made a summary with our group about Captain Cook and Kupe. We all took 2 words and made a drawing that represent the words we have. This is what i did, History and Peace.
Venn Diagram
For reading my group and I created a Venn Diagram to show the differences between Kupe and Captain Cook. In the middle we had to type in the things they had in common.
