SLJ Week 1 Activity 4

LI: To create a piece of insect art

Inspired by art creations by Raku Inoue we went outside and collected leaves, twigs, and other plant debris to create our own insect images. I found it hard to put it together because some of the materials were small and would just move around due to the wind but also enjoyed it because we got to make the bugs using our imaginations and were creative. Did you know that adult beetles have 2 sets of wings and that females beetles usually lay around hundreds or dozens of eggs. By the way beetles only live for around a year!

  1. Kia ora Azatulah,

That is an amazing insect that you made. I think your creation is unique from the other students in your class.
I like how you used a pine cone as the body of your beetle it looks very cool!

What else would you make with outside resources? (You can make anything)

Keep up hard and positive work Azatulah!!

    1. Konichiwa Leon!

Thank you! I like how your comment is specific and detailed. If i could make another insect i would try to make a mosquito or a stick bug. By the way what would you make with materials found from outside? I will also be checking out your blog posts!

    2. Salaam Alaikum Azatulah,

      Thanks for your reply!
If I could create a thing with outside materials I would definitely create a dragon.

I find dragons cool and unique so I totally want to create that!

Whats your favourite animal and why? (You can choose a mythical creature)

  2. Kia ora Azatulah,

You’ve done a fantastic job on your blog post, ka pai! Your insect looks incredible! I like the attention to detail you’ve put in, and that he has the right number of legs! I also really love that you’ve included some facts about beetles. I didn’t know they have two sets of wings or that they only live for about a year!

What’s your favourite type of insect? Mine is a butterfly! I love butterflies. I live in Dunedin and we actually have a butterfly exhibit at the museum here. It’s in a super warm room and there’s a waterfall through the middle. The butterflies all flutter round freely, and eat from all the flowers growing in there. It’s amazing. I once even had a butterfly land on me!

If you had more materials, what other insects could you make from nature?

    Ka kite anō,
    Shannon (SLJ)
